Kayleigh's Perspective on Butte
Kayleigh Brown is a student at Butte High School and a tour guide at the Copper King Mansion. I love our mountains. I really like Uptown Butte with all its little shops and the Butte-Silver Bow Arts Center. I think the Mother Lode Theatre is one of the greatest assets because it brings the performing arts to Butte. The Mai Wah Chinese festival is really neat. Last year I helped carry the Chinese dragon. Doing volunteer work at the World Museum of Mining first sparked my interest in Butte history. And being a summer tour guide at the mansion has really shown me how fascinating Butte history is. I don't think a lot of people know how important Butte was to Montana. I think Butte has a different spirit from anywhere else you go. We understand the environmental issues, and we also understand how important the earth is to our economy. |
